The resemblance knocked me over from the moment I saw him, but I agree with Whistling Gypsy that there are also strong references to John Gilbert. it was great fun, but if it inspires just one person to check out the real thing (meaning Mr. Fairbanks, Sr.) that is a great thing. In these sort of depressing times, he is a ray of sunshine.FlickChickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17351624749230610755noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9143901229925085760.post-49647668568328573782012-03-02T22:19:49.512-05:002012-03-02T22:19:49.512-05:00FlickChick,

I can think of no higher praise than to quote your praise, “Douglas Fairbanks communicates his love of movies the way a dancer communicates the joy of movement or a musician communicates the joy of song. … There is no better guide back to that wondrous world than one of its greatest creators.” I absolutely agree, but if I have one source of pique, it is the failure to credit Fairbanks for his scenes from “The Mark Of Zorro” that appear in “The Artist” and to mention John Gilbert as a source of inspiration.whistlingypsyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06126688373252306609noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9143901229925085760.post-55105899193867333712012-03-02T00:12:21.270-05:002012-03-02T00:12:21.270-05:00WOW!!! looks very nice...:)))WOW!!! looks very nice...:)))Andyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08326608637487404566noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9143901229925085760.post-73181544731926814652012-03-01T10:05:53.117-05:002012-03-01T10:05:53.117-05:00What a pain! Perfect description of the great Fairbanks. Your pics are amazing, especially the one with Fairbanks and Jean in profile smiling! I've listened recently to many people complain that The Artist won so many awards. "How can you win best actor when you don't speak in the film?" is what I hear most.Kimberly J.M.
